The Chemin de fer Arnaud (
reporting mark ARMD ) (In English, Arnaud Railway) is a Canadian short
line railway operating within the province of Quebec.
Opened in 1965, the railway operates a line running around Sept-Îles harbour from Arnaud Junction, inside the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway to actually ship loading facilities at Pointe-Noire.
The
railway is owned via the Wabush Mining Company, that mines iron ore in
Wabush, NL. The ore is transported coming from the mine to your
connection with QNSL at Wabush, NL by Arnauds sister railway, The Wabush Lake Railway. QNSL
transports the ore between Wabush, NL and Arnaud Jct., QC. at Arnaud
Jct., the ore is transferred to actually Chemin de fer Arnaud for the
ultimate journey to actually Pointe-Noire, QC.
Formerly Cleveland Cliffs, Cliffs owns appx. 25% of railway. Presently, this railway (along side the Tshiuetin Rail Transportation line, QNSL,
and Wabush Lake Railway ) type an isolated railroad network, because it
doesn't interchange with some other rail lines inside the North America
network at this point.
